We're excited to bring back the Rose Bowl Rush, an unforgettable kids run that finishes on the field at the Rose Bowl.
When: Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.
Where: The kids run will start at the half marathon start line and finish on the field of the world famous Rose Bowl. The distance is approximately 400 meters or 0.25 miles.
Age Requirement: Recommended for children between 3-8 years old
Instructions for Parents
Kids run bibs must be picked up at the Health & Fitness Expo on Friday, January 18th or Saturday, January 19th. Each child will be given a participant bib that must be pinned to their clothing. The participant bib will feature a tear tag, which should be removed from the bib and held onto by the parent.
Parents may run with their child (only one parent per child), but must show the tear tag to be permitted into the start corral. Parents not running with a child will be reunited with their child after showing the tear tag matching the child’s race number.
OTHER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: while the course is
fenced in and we will have staff and volunteers monitoring the course and
reunification area, this is a point to point course and sometimes kids and
parents get separated. Take time before the run to discuss your plan and
meeting location with your child. Write your cell number on the back of your
child's bib. If you need help finding each other, come to the announcers stage
or locate a staff person. Please note that no child will be allowed to leave
the Rose Bowl field unless accompanied by an adult.
ROSE BOWL RUSH FAQ
The course is approximately 1/4 mile
It will start at the main start line
The Rose Bowl Rush finishes at the main finish line on the Rose Bowl Field.
The Rose Bowl Rush starts at 10:30am with the first wave. Kids can start lining up at 10:15am for warm ups and announcements.
Children will be sent out in waves by age group - oldest in front, youngest in back - every 3-4 minutes. We will have 6 waves of 30-50 kids each (8 yrs, 7 yrs, 6 yrs, 5 yrs, 4yrs, 3 and under). It's a narrow course that is relatively short. By sending the kids in groups by age, we make it a more safe and fun experience.
They are welcome to run in the same wave together - it's up to you as the parent to decide which is the more appropriate wave. Children with less running experience will likely feel more comfortable with a younger age group that is a bit slower.
One adult per child may run with their child. Please hold on to the tear tag from your child's bib to access to the start corrals.
Once you have situated your child in the start corral, you may make your way to the field (it is 1/4 mile so allow at least 10 minutes to walk over and get situtated) where we will have a special viewing location just for family members on the interior of the field. If your child is running solo, you must take their bib tear tag with you for reunification purposes.
Once your child has crossed the finish line they will receive their medal and go through the reunion area. From there you may walk through the finish chute together.
